There was an aircraft theme to the start of the 2008 Tour Britannia, with signing on and the official start taking place at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, Cambridge. Cars and aircraft from the past 100 years mixed in the sunshine.

However, it was not all 'plane' sailing for the first competitive day of the event on Tuesday.
The first venue, Snetterton race circuit, was very wet when the Tour arrived early on Tuesday morning.
Some people were very competitive in the wet conditions, with the Mini leading the field in the first race.

While some were lucky to make the race at all.

At Bruntingthorpe, we were back to the aircraft theme.

Some Fiats remain the same, while others transform to Porsche
  An Oxford Bristol in Cheshire.

By day 3 it was raining again!
The rain just kept coming...
and the Mini kept going to win the race at Oulton Park.

The moment the earth shook!

The Bizzarini lost its exhaust and the ground shook from the sound of the mighty 5.3 litre engine.

The tight confines of Cholmondeley woods could not tame the Bizzarini
No one can accuse the drivers of not trying!

The peace and quiet of the English country village!
