Tour Britannia 2009

7th-9th September 2009

The fifth running of Tour Britannia started at Silverstone on Monday with a double header. As well as the usual circuit races on the National circuit, this year the competitors also got to try out the Porsche Experience test track. A drive through the country took them to Charlbury and Cornbury Park before returning to Whittlebury for the first night.
The second day started with a race at Rockingham, followed by a stage at Belvoir Castle and then a run up to Cadwell Park. There was a delay at Belvoir Castle as Mark Freeman got the Shelby Cobra stuck on the stage and had to be recovered. The overnight stop was at Harrogate.
Day three was run in glorious weather in Yorkshire. After a stage at the Harrogate show ground, Helmsley and Duncombe Park, the crews arrived at Scarborough for a run around the Olivers Mount racing circuit. Road traffic problems caused some delays as crews had large distances to cover, so timing adjustments had to be made by the organisers. Olivers Mount proved to be a turning point for the Competition class as the Robert Hartley De Tomaso Pantera failed to make his second run. After Olivers Mount, the crews regrouped on the seafront at Scarborough for a traditional Fish and Chip lunch before heading off for Castle Howard and the Harewood hill climb course before the finish at Harrogate.

Results to follow..
